Myopia : Laser surgery or implant

Myopia or short-sightedness is a very common eye condition that causes distant objects to appear blurred, while close objects can be seen clearly as well as squinting and headaches.
et des maux de tête.
When the cornea is too curved or your eyeball is too long (or both). This makes it more difficult for your eyes to focus light rays directly on your retina – they are focused in front of your retina instead. If the light rays aren’t clearly focused on your retina, the object you’re looking at will seem blurred. (See illustration below)

Nowadays Refractive Surgery enables to correct this condition. Two solutions are possible depending on the degree of myopia and corneal thickness.

  • Laser treatment : for low and medium myopia. A surgical intervention by laser, PKR, Lasik or Relex enables to reshape the cornea so that light rays focus correctly onto your retina and correct the visual defect.
  • Intraocular lens implant technique: for high and sever myopia. An artificial lens is placed inside your eye called Intraocular Lens, This implant enables to correct the vision by adapting the meeting point of the lights onto your retina.

Both treatments are completely painless, last 10 minutes and allow a rapid visual recovery
